Biography

James M. Campbell, president of the law firm of Campbell Campbell Edwards & Conroy Professional Corporation, focuses his practice on civil litigation and the defense of catastrophic product liability, toxic tort, medical device, pharmaceutical and negligence matters throughout the United States. One of the firm's principal trial attorneys, he is responsible for supervising and coordinating litigation for the firm throughout New England and other regions of the country. Mr. Campbell serves as trial counsel for Ford, Honda, Toyota, Terex, Freightliner, Chrysler, Marriott, Crown, Mitsubishi, Kia, Isuzu, Raymond and other major corporations. He is also trial counsel for a variety of insurers, including AIG, Lexington, ACE, Allianz, Tokio Marine, Sompo Japan, Church Mutual and others. Mr. Campbell has tried cases in 13 different states. He has tried over 75 cases to verdict.

Mr. Campbell earned his law degree from the University of Virginia and bachelors degree magna cum laude from Boston College. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, Maine, Florida and New Hampshire, the federal district courts of those states and those in Connecticut, Vermont, and the First and Eleventh Circuits.

Mr. Campbell is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and serves on the Technology Committee. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Association of Defense Counsel. He was the Director of the 2005 IADC Trial Academy and served on the faculty of the 1997 IADC Trial Academy. Mr. Campbell is a Diplomate of the American Board of Trial Advocates, serves on its National Board of Directors, and is a past President of the Massachusetts Chapter of ABOTA. He served on the Board of Directors of the Defense Research Institute and as a member of the steering committee of the DRI's Products Liability Committee and Trial Tactics Committee. Mr. Campbell served on the faculty of the ABA TIPS 2001 National Trial Academy and served as the Director of the 2003 Trial Academy. Mr. Campbell is also a member of the Product Liability Advisory Council, Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, the Association of Defense Trial Lawyers and a former president of the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association.

Mr. Campbell is the co-author of a Defense Research Institute monograph regarding the duty to warn and authored a chapter concerning the discoverability of post-accident design changes in product liability actions for DRI's Pre-Trial Handbook. As an editor and contributing author, he assisted in producing two chapters for the Defense Research Institute's 50 state compendium of defenses to product liability cases. He has lectured on products liability at numerous national seminars and before trade associations.
