Boston Attorney Elected President of International Association of Defense Counsel

Chicago: At its Annual Meeting in July, held at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) elected James M. Campbell President for the 2009-2010 term. The IADC is an invitation-only professional association for corporate and insurance defense lawyers around the world.

Mr. Campbell is the president of Campbell Campbell Edwards & Conroy Professional Corporation, located in its Boston office. He focuses his practice on civil litigation and the defense of products liability, toxic tort, pharmaceutical and professional liability matters in New England and throughout the United States. One of the firm's principal trial attorneys, he is responsible for supervising and coordinating litigation throughout New England and other regions of the country. Mr. Campbell serves as national, regional and local trial counsel for a variety of major national and international corporations and insurers. He has tried more than 100 cases in 13 states. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a Diplomate of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).

Mr. Campbell earned his law degree from the University of Virginia and his bachelor's degree magna cum laude from Boston College. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts, Maine, Florida and New Hampshire, the federal district courts of those states and those in Connecticut, Vermont and the First and Eleventh Circuits.

Mr. Campbell has been a member of the IADC Board of Directors since July 2005. He served as the Director of the 2005 IADC Trial Academy and as a Faculty member in 1997. Mr. Campbell serves on the Technology Committee of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He also serves on ABOTA's National Board of Directors and is a Past President of its Massachusetts Chapter. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Defense Research Institute. Mr. Campbell is a Past President of the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association. He served as the Director of the American Bar Association's 2003 National Trial Academy and was a faculty member of that Trial Academy in 2001. He is also a member of the Product Liability Advisory Council, Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel and the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys.

The International Association of Defense Counsel has served a distinguished membership of corporate and insurance defense attorneys since 1920. Its activities benefit the approximately 2,400 invitation-only, peer-reviewed international members and their clients through networking, education and professional opportunities, and also benefit the civil justice system and the legal profession. The IADC takes a leadership role in many areas of legal interest and professional development.
